There is an approach to the most important asset of any organisation – its
people – called “Investors in People”. Generally known by its initials, IIP is a
International Standard that focuses upon the improvement of organisational
performance through the effective development of its people.

It is the accepted standard throughout Europe. It defines leading practice
for
the training and development of all employees in order to achieve
business goals. The Investors in People Standard is based upon four principles:
Commitment, Planning, Action and Evaluation.

Whilst we judge the formal approach explicit in IIP as too great for a small
organisation, Europartnership supports the IIP principles (and can assist larger
organisations to achieve the formal recognition). We particularly like the
evidence based approach using indicators and guidelines to monitor progress and
sustainablility.
